Riley Blake Designs is a family-owned fabric manufacturer and is an industry leader! I love just about any Riley Blake fabric at first sight and knowing that it’s also family-owned makes you feel great about supporting this brand. We all try to shop small and local, but it’s great when the supplies we find at those small and local shops align with the same values of those local business owners.
Riley Blake Designs has been manufacturing fabric since 2009. Although they only debuted with one fabric line, Just Dreamy, now they have a lot of designers and fabric lines to choose from. The staple line of solids carried here at Blossom Fabric Boutique is Confetti Cotton by Riley Blake Designs. It is a premium quilting solid cotton fabric that is soft to the touch. They have so many options for colors and they are all 43/44" wide! It's amazing!
When working with Confetti Cotton, you don't have to worry about the fray as much like 100% cottons. It cuts like a dream. I also appreciate that they don't recommend prewashing their fabrics. All of your cottons will typically shrink 3-5% when washed, so it’s better to wash after you've finished your project.
You can do so much with these solids. They are great coordinates in a project or can be the whole dang thing! RileyBlakeDesigns.com has a great selection of free patterns to download in addition to the great patterns you can find at quilt shops. They also do sew-a-longs! They are doing one right now called Building Blocks. It started June 23 and will finish on October 27. They provide all the details for the project here. In addition to getting the free block patterns every other week, you can also watch a detailed tutorial video on their YouTube channel here. They do a wonderful job. This Building Blocks sew-a-long is the perfect project for a skill builder. If you're an experienced quilter, you may even find some new block patterns to try out.
Be sure to check out our collection of Confetti Cotton fabrics here at Blossom Fabric Boutique. Each color is available by the half yard. Anything over a half yard will be one continuous cut. They are great staples in your fabric stash or for the Building Blocks sew-a-long. We have new colors arriving weekly, as we build our stash too. If you are ever on the hunt for a color and we don't have it listed, contact us and we'll order it in right away for you!
Happy Sewing!
